![]() ![]() If someone wanted to undergo social anxiety reduction, they might start with simple controlled experiences like this and perhaps work their way up to "Open Mic Night" at Altspace where they perform in front of a crowd. We might consider this public speaking because everyone at the town hall listens to you just as if you were at a physical meeting.Īdditionally, guests can always chat with other people around them, just like in other social VR apps. At one of these town halls, your extent of public speaking would be to raise your hand and ask a question that Alex or an Altspace employee would answer. It's also a way to practice public speaking since many or most people have some form of anxiety about doing that. It's a safe environment, you know nobody will harass you and you mostly listen. Microsoft's Alex Kipman, in charge of mixed reality, often shows up along with guests as avatars. One way to test the waters safely is to visit an Altspace/Mixed Reality Town Hall meeting held by Altspace / Microsoft. If VR is meant to mirror reality, if someone isn't 100% comfortable showing up at a random event where they don't know anybody, they might not be 100% comfortable doing that in VR. Maybe one VR problem isn't a problem at all. Oculus Venues gives people the option to "separate yourself from the audience." An interesting stat might be the percentage of users who choose that option when viewing an event. Is that the case? (if is, this is(VR) also the best way to practice your English) i found that most of the people that have trouble speaking in these kind of apps.is the fact that English is not their native language.and are not so comfortable with their English. ![]() and now, that's the thing i like most in VR. I wasn't much into social/audio speaking apps before i got the Go. There, if you don't talk, they get upset.hehe) (People won't get mad if you're not talking.just avoid rooms that says "pub". (i found apps that have non-vr users to often kill your "experience" in VR.) ![]() IMO has better experience than AltSpace (sometimes too much people waking around & non-vr kids) & less intimidating than vTime (where the main thing is really conversation and people expect you to talk.oh and non-vr users) (of course, sometimes people start to talk about things, which is also good). The fact that people are talking about what's on the screen(movie/game). From all the OculusGo social apps, it's better for what you described. ![]()
